Press Release / Fort Providence, NT
FORT PROVIDENCE, NT – July 6, 2007 – The revised Dehcho Land Use Planning Committee met here for first time and exchanged chairs as work got under way with revisions to the Plan which are key to the Dehcho Process of negotiations.
Dehcho Grand Chief Herb Norwegian convened the meeting, then resigned stating “it was one of the most important jobs, I’ve ever dome to get this thing up and running. We’ve gone through a lot of difficulties the feds but finally they agreed that the LUP must proceed with its revisions.”
Part of the deal negotiated last spring between Federal and Territorial negotiators and the Dehcho negotiating team was an opportunity to change nominees to the five-person committee. Norwegian stepped down and his place as chair was taken by former Grand Chief Mike Nadli who will guide the necessary revisions.
