Medicine Picking Program

August 2-6, 2024 | Fort Providence

This workshop invited participants to learn about medicinal plants and honourable harvesting. Together, participants learned how to identify local plants, what tiem of year to harvest them, and how to do this in an honourable way. Next, participants learnt how to prepare the plants, and what kind of medicinal uses the plants hold. This workshop was informed by language, and cultural knowledge sharing.

Supporting Wellbeing delivered this specialized training to empower on-the-land leaders with the tools to lead and sustain wellness initiatives in their own communities.

Community Workshop Series

February – August 2024 | Region-wide

Every organization in the Dehcho was offered a community-based workshop. A series of community-based workshops, delivered by Shakes the Dust Hope Consulting. Delivered workshops were held in Fort Providence, Wrigley, Jean Marie River, Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę, and West Point First Nation. Each workshop covered a wide range of topics that were chosen by the community.
