Overview

DFN ASETS partners with clients with other sources of funding such as ECE, EI or employer contributions. Skills Development training programs helps clients’ improve their employability skills required to get and stay employed. Clients provide acceptance letters, training assistance received from other sources, training budget and completed ASETS skills development application form. ASETS assesses each application on a case by case basis. It is in the student’s best interest to provide all required information.

 

All ASETS funded programs must be labour market driven. This means at the end of all programs, the client must be employed and provide ASETS staff with employment information.

Application Deadline Information
  • Skills Development: One full month prior to the Start Date of course/program – SFA, ASETS
  • DFN Scholarship: July 31st annually

Clients provide acceptance letters, training assistance received from other sources and completed ASETS work readiness application form. ASETS assesses each application on a case by case basis. It is in the student’s best interest to provide all required information.

  • ABE Fall Term (September to December): one full month prior to the Start Date
  • ABE Winter Term (January to June): one full month prior to the Start Date

Submitting an application requesting training/education assistance does not mean that you will be selected. Priority will be given to applicants meeting labour market demands who have maintained and/or fulfilled the above requirements.

DFN ASETS partners with post-secondary students and primary funders by providing top-ups to tuition, books and living allowances. Studetns provide acceptance letters, educational assistance received from other sources, educational budget and completed ASETS post-secondary application form. ASETS assesses each application on a case by case basis. It is in the student’s best interest to provide all required information.

 

ASETS top-ups are meant to add to a student’s financial resouces. Students can contribute to their education through summer employment, part-time employment, savings and careful planning. Students should save money for tuition, books, travel, rent and food of six weeks. This will ensure you have enough available funds until primary funding is received. ASETS is a secondary source of funding.

  • Winter Term (January to April): November 15th – SFA, UCEP, ASETS Spring/Summer Term (May to August): March 15th – SFA, ASETS
  • Other: One full month prior to the Start Date of course/program – SFA, ASETS
